bohemian folkloric metaphysical shaman

Yesterday, I was sitting on the sidewalk outside of school and sketching when a woman came up to me and asked if I would like to be a hand model. She works for some extras casting company, which apparently needs people with "petite, pale hands and a sketching ability." Ha, art school is probably a good place to find such a person. Anyhows, I'm going to call the place today, because I like the idea of making money off the appearance of my hands (and I'm super broke).

Speaking of super broke, the job hunt isn't going too well. My best hope, the zoo, was somewhat dashed the other day by the group interview I went to. What a joke. Apparently they have over 2000 applicants, so they do these weird group things were you all sit around a table and answer inane questions. It was bizarre; there was a suppressed feeling of competition glossed over by camaraderie. I don't think I came off very well; I prefer to be one-on-one or in front of a small group. The main problem for me, I think, is that they seem to be looking for summer people and I will be gone in May. Oh well. The zoo was neat, at any rate. There were some peacocks wandering around. Later I inquired about the possibility of being a Cirque du Soleil assistant, which lasts for about two months and would be perfect. Just waiting for a return email. On the upside of all this, I am now a million times more aware of how far my money goes and a lot less inclined to spend all of it. Of course, this occurred after most of it was already gone. Eff.

This week left me incredibly worn out and achey, but yesterday afternoon/night I slept like it's going out of style and feel pretty decent this morning (if still achey). I watched roommate Allison's season 1 of Wondershowzen and was scarred for life, kind of in a good way. I've gotten into the habit of doing laundry as infrequently as possible, which is kind of a good thing because it keeps me from spending too many quarters and wearing the same thing all the time. It's been really beautiful outside for the past week or so, which is amazing. If it's clear enough you can see Mt. Hood (I think) in the distance.

Justice and Gravy Train are both playing here over my spring break (not together)-BEST THING. The next week I can see Ghostland Observatory and The Black Keys. Unfortunately I missed MSTRKRFT; it was on the other side of the river and I was really exhausted. This may be a 21 + town, but the people I want to see the most are still available. Gogol Bordello is playing on the 12th of March, but I'm not sure if I want to go or not... I love them but their shows always end up leaving me in physical pain.

I have rather a lot of homework this weekend; I should probably get on that. Bye, interweb.

P.S. I think my roommate is watching Jerry Springer. Oh joy.

Edit 4:33- I saw an ad for egg donors, but after about two seconds of looking into it I decided that it sounds like a bad/weird idea. You have to take fertility drugs and shit, and then there's the part where you have mysterious unknown offspring floating around. Ehhhh, creeps me out. Also, it's being Portland-y out and raining.

At least no one has stopped you on the street and asked for your eggs. Art school would probably be a good place to look for that, too.
Go, be a world famous hand model!
